Maybe you have read my previous game review about Imperial Settlers which was a great game. The game feels like four smaller game within a big box with all of their factions.

Even though the components are mainly cards, sometimes it feels too big to take them back to the table. I just wish I can find a way to simplify the storage into a smaller box.

Nowadays, with thousands of board or tabletop games coming out every year, we can find one or two that offers similar gameplay. Some can even come with smaller size of box, easier to setup and to bring to other place, play with friends.

If you are looking for such game, you might want to try Villages of Valeria. A similar game to Imperial Settlers but with just small box, fantasy theme but offers different way of player interactions.

I’ve said many times in almost every review that we cannot earn much from these online earning programs like cryptocurrency faucet. Our time to actively use those earning features is limited.

One of the solutions that I can think of is to utilize referral commissions offered by those programs. By inviting other people, we can earn something passively, even when we are asleep through those commissions.

The problem with physical tabletop games compared to a video game is the physical components. This will take space to store and cost a lot of money from the manufacturer to whoever buys the game. Because of that, the price can go very high without generating that much profit for the developer or designers.

This got even worse during pandemic. Not only people couldn’t get together and play, the production process and shipping anything got delayed heavily. The price of games went up and led to bankruptcy for some small publishers.

On the other hand, there is a genre within tabletop games called Print and Play (PnP) games. Even until now, some people just love creating some games and they share the file of their game’s components. This way, more people can download it, print them and then play the games without buying a produced retail copy.

Some designers may charge some prices for the file. While some others are sharing for free or ask for any amount of compensation from the players.

Then, during pandemic, one publisher, Postmark Games came out with a new model. They ask for 1 time payment to buy the file for their game but they make a promise that buyers will get access to any future contents for that game.

Voyages, their first game, was a success. That idea inspired a lot of other game designers to use the same approach. As a PnP, players must do a bit more effort printing the components. However, they also encouraged the idea of playing the game digitally.

So, what is this Voyages game? How do we play it? Is it too much effort to print the game ourselves?

Like Hero Realms game from my previous review, there are a lot of other tabletop games that use just cards as their components. We can easily bring them anywhere and play with anyone, no need to worry about losing any small pieces of the game.

Some may not like the cutthroat or battle nature of the game where player will try to defeat their opponents by destroying their progress in the game. However, there are games where player can just mind their own progress, just competing for points at the end of the game but still have enough player interaction.

The previous board game that I played, The Imperial Settlers, turned out to be great. However, it took quite some time for the set up and to put it back again in the box.

When I played with my friend in a café, the box is to big to carry, the components are too small. It is very easy for the components to get thrown away. We also need a big and long table just to play the game. Not to mention, the time the game will take to play.

So, Imperial Settlers is really for a home game, or at least not everywhere. Luckily we can play solo mode. With today’s life, it becomes harder to find the right time and the right place to play together with friends.

Then, my friend introduced me again with another game. Much more simpler game, easy to carry around, easy set up, quick play like just 20 minutes. The best part is the game offer more game modes so we can play it again without getting bored.

If you are looking for such game, you might want to try Hero Realms. A card game from 2016 with deckbuilding mechanism, fantasy theme, and only use cards, very easy to set up.
